The Dresden Files: Portland
Margrave of the Red Court
Alfonse Abarca Cabrera Gonzalez Velasquez was born in Spain in 1731. Very charismatic and socially savvy, Velasquez, though born to wealth, managed to expand his family holdings and wealth during his lifetime. At the height of his power, he was turned by a noble Red Court vampire calling herself Gloriana, who wanted to use him as a source of wealth and power for the Red Court. Alfonse proved to be a willing partner and the two attained much success in their goals.
In the 1800s, Alfonse moved to California and started over, amassing another small empire for the Red Court there. Now he has done the same in Seattle, and during wartime at that.
Alfonse is a ruthless, power-hungry vampire obsessed with the trappings of wealth. Further wishes to control all of the supernatural world of Seattle for the Red Court—not only to further the cause, but to increase his own power.
He is particularly doting on his latest progeny, Alissa Tanner. She has proven to a be an adept hunter and excellent tool against his enemies. Alissa regularly hunts at Pioneer Square, looking for the unwary or forgotten.
He recently enacted a plan in which an enthralled focus practitioner was going to be used to frame the White Council for the death of Madeline Raith. His hope was to bring the White Court Vampires into the Vampire Ware against the wizards. The assassination attempt failed and her handler, Ricky Parsons was killed. This prompted a crisis in which the White Court could enter the War against the Red Court Vampires. War was avoided by a proxy duel between champions of Madeline Raith and Velasquez. Madeline’s Raiths champion, Brianna Karkana, won the duel.
